Fight Overpopulation with Education

One of the main reasons we have such a big impact on the environment is because of our burgeoning population. Although the world's rate of growth is slowing, the world's population is growing. It is expected to reach 7 billion by the end of this year. Most of the growth is from the less developed nations. As the population continues to grow, it is becoming increasingly obvious that a country's growth rate is linked to the education provided to its women.

It is ultimately the woman's decision whether she wants to start a career or a family. Women who are given access to education are more likely to delay starting a family. Educated women are also more likely to use contraceptives.

The good news is that as more people around the world begin to realize the value of education it will become accessible to more people. More women will start careers and will choose to delay starting families. More couples will use contraceptives. The population growth rate will decrease drastically.
