What I already Have

I would like to start out by listing the things in my house that are already environmentally  friendly. Like most newly renovated houses, my house has many energy efficient appliances and electronics.  Most of the original light bulbs are the compact fluorescent types. All the essential appliances that we purchased such as the washer and dryer meet the guidelines that qualify them for the Energy Star label. The toilets in each bathroom are designed to use less water per flush then the average toilet.

We have a few more items of less importance things that when added up make an impact.
The windows are larger than those of most houses. This allows for greater light and ventilation, allowing us to use less electricity in times of extreme weather. We get to enjoy the several health benefits of the houseplants spread throughout the house. Studies done by NASA have shown that even a few houseplants can reduce particulate matter and noxious gases from the indoor atmosphere.

Even with all of these features, the house could still be made to become more environmentally friendly. Many more things could be done to see great improvement. I hope to be able to make improvements to my house within the near future.
